Malhara House is a family home in Jhotwara, Jaipur. The building is about 25 years old. It is circular in plan and clad in white marble, with carved arches, an internal balcony, marble floors, and a dome topped by a cupid statue.
It is a home first, and it is opened for photography by appointment only. There are no walk-ins, and no other shoot is on site during yours. The spaces in your package are prepared for your shoot alone.
The gardens.
Mature trees and well-tended planting frame the marble façade. The columned porch and the carved arches make a natural frame for portraits, with the columnar cypresses and the seasonal flowers behind.
The garden takes soft light in the morning and warm light at golden hour. Lights near the trees keep it usable through dusk.
The Grand Hall.
The interior of the house is built around a circular Grand Hall, with an internal balcony running the full perimeter of the upper floor. Marble underfoot, carved arches above, and ornate hardwood double doors completing the room.
The Hall suits couples who want classical, formal portraits, and the balcony gives the photographer a second level to work from.
The rooftop & chatri.
A flight of marble stairs leads to the roof terrace, home to the chatri pavilion and the dome of the house, with the cupid on top.
The rooftop is at its best towards sunset, when the marble takes on a warm wash. With The Malhara Experience, tea is served to the couple here.
